TeenVGN is quickly discovering it's individuality in the vegan community, with new projects and our VGN Summer Camp, we are doing our best to make our mark on the world.
We have always thought of ourselves, not as a charity, but as a charitable support group for all young people. And our Food Bank just felt, to us, like a great way of supporting less fortunate families and children with nutritious plant-based food.
Our aim is to work alongside local community groups and food banks, (hopefully) overwhelming them with delicious vegan food to send out to those in need! What a great way for an unexpectant family to have some mock meat or tofu turn up on their door and experiment with it!
We like this subtle approach because we know that we don't need to get the credit for someone's diet or lifestyle change (after all, it's not about us, but about the life they are saving by eating less meat/dairy), but just the thought that a family out there might be trying vegan food for the first time and really loving it. That is fine by us!
Though this is something that aids people of all ages, we really want to encourage our young members to be charitable and show them how easy it is to get out there and do something in the community for the lifestyle that they are leading. Being a role model organisation is our number one objective.
Our next Food Bank is at Vegfest Bristol 21st & 22nd May. Drop off point: TeenVGN Stall. (Main Marquee)
